Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13
The top New Year’s resolution for 2017 is to “lose weight and eat healthier” followed by “self-improvement,” “better financial decisions,” “quit smoking,” “do more exciting things,” and “spend more time with family and friends.”
Nearly 50% of Americans will make a New Year’s resolution but only 8% will actually achieve them.
Why is there such a high failure rate? More fundamentally, are resolutions a good thing for the Christian to make? And if so, what should our resolutions focus on and how can we achieve them?
We’ll discuss “making and keeping resolutions”, searching what the Bible says about resolutions and looking at the life of the great American Puritan, Jonathan Edwards, and the 70 resolutions he made as a teenager.
