Socialism has become mainstream in America. Political candidates representing the Democratic Socialists of America Party are winning elections across the country. Their website says this:
“Imagine taking a day off from work in a future without capitalism. You don’t really have bills anymore. You have no debt. You don’t need health insurance. You don’t pay a mortgage or have a landlord, because comfortable housing is a human right. Your retirement is publicly funded. Food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation aren’t for-profit businesses; they are common goods and utilities.
If we lived in a classless society and governed ourselves, we could freely build a world without war or poverty. Building this world is the guiding star of our movement. When we labor for our common good instead of private profit, we can all have a secure and dignified life, and use our time and talents how we wish.”
We, we, we. Just like the rebels of Babel in Genesis 11, building their city and tower in opposition to God.
Our guest this weekend to discuss the rise of socialism is Cal Beisner, founder and president of The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation, an organization that “advocates for policies that lift people out of poverty through principles such as private property rights, entrepreneurship, free trade, limited government, and access to abundant, affordable, and reliable energy.”
