TCW Minute: Convictions and Influence (Week of March 13, 2017)

Convictions and influence.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

Joshua was a revered leader of the Jews during their conquest of the Promised Land.  He implored the people in his final message to “choose for yourselves today whom you will serve … as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).

Joshua was a man of strong conviction, leaving a legacy of influence that continues today.  So how can we do the same?

Strong convictions that overcome the world and influence others are born and grow through daily time with God in His Word and prayer.  Scripture says that when Moses returned to the camp from meeting with God in the tabernacle, Joshua would not depart.

This weekend, we’ll discuss church growth.

TCW Minute: Spiritual Blind Spots (Week of March 6, 2016)

What is something that everyone has, that we are able to clearly see in others yet rarely in ourselves?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

If you answered “blind spots”, you are correct!  No one in Scripture received more strong criticism from Jesus than the scribes and Pharisees, the religious leaders of His day, who were known for their external displays of religiosity rather than an authentic, inner devotion.

Jesus said about them, “All that they tell you, do and observe, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.”

We need to be washed daily with the Word and surrendered to the Spirit so our walk matches our talk and our hearts seek God’s glory rather than our own.

This weekend, we’ll discuss the legacy of biblical influence.

TCW Minute: Abiding Hope in Suffering (Week of Feb. 27, 2017)

How to get through our deepest, darkest trials?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

There are trials in life … and then there are super-trials, ones that leave us wondering, “How can I endure this?  Will it collapse my faith in God?”

An abducted child.  Stage four cancer.  A brutal divorce or death of a loved one.

Our deepest suffering is where God does His greatest work, as we trust in the promises of His Word, as we draw near to Him in prayer, as we receive the encouragement of fellow believers.

God told Paul in his trial, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

This weekend, we’ll discuss how to overcome our spiritual blind spots.

TCW Minute: What is the Story of Realty? (Week of Feb. 13, 2017)

What is the story of reality?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

For truth to be truthful, it must match reality.  The Bible helps us understand reality by answering four categories of questions that all religions or worldviews seek to answer:

Creation: Where did we come from?
Fall: What has gone wrong?
Redemption: What is the solution?
Restoration: Where will everything end up?

The biblical worldview is based on the reality that God is the Creator, that man’s sin has corrupted the world, that Christ alone can redeem repentant sinners, and that someday God will welcome His followers into a new heavens and new earth and sentence to hell those who reject His offer of salvation.

Hear a two-part interview on the story of reality at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, we’ll talk about the New Apostolic Reformation and the Jesus Culture.
