TCW Minute: Lessons from the Implosion at Willow Creek Church (Week of Aug. 13, 2018)
Lessons from the implosion at Willow Creek Church. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
Willow Creek in Chicago is one of the largest and most influential evangelical churches. Founder and former senior pastor Bill Hybels innovated the “seeker sensitive” model of gearing church to non-believers or seekers.
An implosion took place this past week at Willow Creek with the entire board of elders and both lead pastors resigning amidst allegations of extra-marital sin by Hybels.
While there is plenty to discern about the unbiblical seeker model and its huge impact on churches, the first lesson is to pray for all involved and “take heed that we do not fall”.

TCW Minute: Political Correctness (Week of Aug. 6, 2018)
Why is political correctness so insidious? This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
Political correctness, which is rooted in marxism, could more accurately be termed truth suppression because it seeks to silence opposing viewpoints. For example, feel a bit shy now about saying something publicly about the unbiblical nature of same-sex marriage? Think you should keep your opinion to yourself with regard to associating Islam with terrorism?
Well, you are feeling the truth-suppressing force of political correctness. Instead of quieting down, Christians, within our own spheres of influence, need to turn it up with the truth of God’s Word, spoken with grace, and motivated by love for lost souls. That’s what Jesus did and so should we.

This weekend, we’ll speak with a filmmaker about the impact of Hollywood on Christians.
TCW Minute: A Good Conscience (Week of July 30, 2018)
Do you have a good conscience? This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
The apostle Paul said to Timothy, “the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” (1 Timothy 1:5)
The conscience is an inner alert system to keep you from sin and impel you to righteousness.
But the conscience is not infallible. We should not claim an inner voice is necessarily from God. All promptings must be examined against God’s word.
If you’re not sure, obey your conscience now and then seek a more biblical understanding of the issue. Violating your conscience is sin, as is doing something that offends a weaker believer’s conscience.

TCW Minute: Social Gospel vs. Saving Gospel (Week of July 23, 2018)
Social gospel vs. the saving gospel. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
A growing movement of professed “woke” Evangelicals see the church as white-centric against blacks, sexist against women, and unwelcoming toward homosexuals.
These Evangelicals are being influenced by Cultural Marxism, which stokes the grievances of certain identity groups to overthrow “the white-privilege, heterosexual patriarchy” as they call it.
1 Corinthians 2 says, “we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God…”
The spirit of the world seeks socialism by demanding social justice. But the Spirit who is from God desires something infinitely greater—salvation.
