TCW Minute: Insights from the Aged (Week of May 14, 2018)

Insights from the aged.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

The Bible says: “Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.”

This is especially true when an elderly person has walked with Christ for many years and experienced so much in life.

Tragically, our society has become so youth-centered, where older people are shuffled off to irrelevancy.  We do this to our harm.

Let’s heed and be blessed by the 5th Commandment: Honor your father and mother so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.

Hear an interview with my parents, who are in their mid-80s, married and followers of Christ for over 60 years, at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, we’ll discus current events  in the Middle East.

TCW Minute: Dualism and the Moral Revolution (Week of May 7, 2018)

Dualism and the moral revolution.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

In her new book, Love Thy Body, Christian apologist and scholar Nancy Pearcey, explains how the moral revolution taking place, with regard to abortion, transgenderism, and sexual immorality, is ungirded by a dualistic worldview, where the mind is preeminent while the body’s design is irrelevant.

The truth about mind and body is found in God’s word which says that are “fearfully and wonderfully made”.  Our identity should not be based on subjective feelings but on how God made us and we should value and use our bodies in accordance with His design.

And then tune in this weekend for another topic that will sharpen your worldview.

TCW Minute: Dualism and the Moral Revolution (Week of April 30, 2018)

How is dualism driving the moral revolution?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
The philosophy of dualism, similar to Gnosticism in New Testament times, divides the person into mind and body, with the mind holding all authority.
For example, you have likely heard a transgender person say, “I was born with a male body but I’m really female.”  Similarly, homosexual advocates ignore the opposite sex design of our bodies, justifying with their mind to be with the same sex.
The Bible says our bodies are wonderfully made and their design should be affirmed rather than rejected by our minds.

This weekend, Nancy joins us again to talk about how Christians should respond to the moral revolution.

TCW Minute: Week of April 16, 2018: Miracle and Healing Movements

Miracle and healing movements.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
2 Peter 2 says, “there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies…because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words…”
Costi Hinn worked in the ministry of his uncle Benny Hinn, an internationally-known “televangelist” who claims to have the power of healing and miracles.  Investigations about staged healings and extravagant use of donor funds have dogged Benny Hinn for years.
Costi was saved by God’s grace.  While careful not to broad brush all charismatics, he is warning of the miracle-healing movements and how they are impacting the Evangelical church.
Hear an interview with Costi Hinn at TheChristianWorldview.org.
This weekend, he will join us for part 2.
