Past TCW Minutes

TCW Minute: Substances of Mass Destruction (Week of Oct. 16, 2017)

Substances of mass destruction.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, “abuse of tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs cost our nation more than $740 billion annually in crime, lost work productivity and health care.”
And that doesn’t measure the lives, families, and communities that are deeply harmed.
Here’s an encouragement from God’s word:
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10

TCW Minute: Las Vegas Massacre (Week of Oct. 9, 2017)

Massacre in Las Vegas. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

The deadliest mass murder in modern U.S. history took place last week, when a man perched himself in a hotel room, shooting country music concert-goers gathered below. 58 were killed and hundreds injured.

Tragedies like this evoke questions, such as:
Is there any way to stop these acts of violence, such as stricter gun regulations?
And, what does this evil teach us about human nature?
Most people will never commit mass murder, but the Bible says each of us has an evil heart, restrained only by regeneration through Jesus Christ.

Hear answers to four burning questions about the Las Vegas massacre at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, we’ll discuss the opioid epidemic.

TCW Minute: Overcoming Depression and Suicide (Week of Oct. 2, 2017)

How to overcome depression and suicide?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
This year America is headed toward a record 40,000 deaths by suicide.  It is the second leading cause of death for those aged 10-24.
Unrepentant sin and unresolved conflict are what lead to depression, and depression is the path that leads to suicide.   But there is hope.  The Psalmist says, Why are you in despair, O my soul?  And why have you become disturbed within me?  Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him.
Knowing and drawing near to God, and feeding on His truth, is where the hope comes to overcome depression and suicide.

TCW Minute: Prioritize What’s Important (Week of Sept. 25, 2017)

Prioritize what’s important. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

It was a meaningful weekend at The Christian Worldview Conference. The messages were impactful, the music inspirational, and the fellowship wonderful.

One theme was The Reformation, Justification, and Authority of Scripture and the other was World Events, Islam, and the Clash of Civilizations.

Why are these topics important? The Reformation reclaimed critical doctrines, changing Christianity and Western Civilization. The authority of Scripture answers, “What is the basis for truth, reality?” Justification shows us how one is made right with God. And discerning world events helps us be alert to the return of Christ.

If you weren’t able to attend the Conference, you can order the DVDs or CDs at TheChristianWorldview.org.
