Past TCW Minutes

TCW Minute: Discernment and Doctrine (Week of Sept. 18, 2017)

Be alert. Stand firm. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

This past weekend at The Christian Worldview Conference, we focused on two themes: One was: World Events, Islam, and the Clash of Civilizations. And the other: The Reformation, Authority of Scripture, and Justification by Faith.

These may seem like unrelated themes, but they actually summarize two things Scripture calls Christians to do: discern the times and declare sound doctrine.

Paul told the Corinthians: Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Cor. 16

TCW Minute: Non-Religious Growth (Week of Sept. 11, 2017)

What the growth of non-Christians means. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

A recent survey in the UK found that 53% have no religious affiliation. In America, a Pew survey found that 43% of young adults do not identify as Christian, whether Protestant or Catholic.

What has led to this is a relentless attack on the Bible, the ubiquitous promotion of humanism, and a failure of true Christians and churches to influence their own.

The ramifications are daunting, but revival is never beyond God’s power—if pastors preach the full counsel of God and if Christians strive to be what Paul says—“the fragrance of Christ”—and bring their children up “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

TCW Minute: Understanding God in Hurricane Harvey (Week of Sept. 4, 2017)

Understanding God in Hurricane Harvey.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
Just as Scripture says that a sparrow does not “fall to the ground apart from your Father”, neither does a drop of rain.  We may not know why God causes or allows a hurricane, but it reminds us “the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth” because of sin (Romans 8).
When asked about disasters, Jesus replied, “Do you suppose that these were greater sinners because they suffered this fate? I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
So here’s what we do know: unbelievers are called to repent and believe in Christ and Christians to pray for and help the people of southeast Texas.

TCW Minute: Worldview and Goal of the Protests (Week of August 28, 2017)

What’s behind the protests?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
There is a spirit of rebellion right now in our country, against President Trump, Confederate statues, and our Constitutional Republic itself.
The protesters view the world as the oppressors vs. the oppressed.  Minorities, Muslims, homosexuals, transgenders, women, and the poor are the oppressed while conservative, white, wealthy, heterosexual male capitalists are the oppressors.
They say they want “social justice”, which is code for government-dictated equal outcomes, also known as Communism; ironically, the most oppressive system of all.
