TCW Minute: Music and the Christian (Week of June 6, 2016)

Music and the Christian.  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

Colossians 3 says, Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Tragically, music has become a major dividing line in the evangelical church and is often wrongly prioritized as much or more than the preaching of the Word.

Music is a wonderful gift from God to be used to glorify Him and sanctify us.  Music inspires—for good or evil—beyond words alone, and thus, we need to exercise wisdom in choosing music both inside and outside the church.

Hear an interview that includes five exhortations about music at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, we’ll discuss how to do sports God’s way.

TCW Minute: God’s Sovereignty and Our Choices (Week of May 30, 2016)

How do we reconcile God’s sovereignty with our ability to make choices?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

All throughout the Bible, we see that God is in perfect control.  He either causes or allows everything that happens.  He is sovereign.

And yet we also read that we are to choose good and refuse sin, that our decisions have real consequences, for better or for worse.

Our finite minds may not be able to fully understand how our choices interact with God’s sovereignty, but we can thank God that He is in control and that He gives us the power to make the right decisions.

This weekend, we’ll discuss music and the Christian.

TCW Minute: The Reality of Hell (Week of May 23, 2016)

Should hell be discussed?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

One of the most disturbing passages in Scripture is when Jesus tells the story of the rich man who has died and is pleading for relief in hell.

The man says: Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.

According to Jesus, hell is a real place, where those who reject God’s offer of forgiveness through Jesus Christ consciously suffer God’s wrath forever.

Pastors and all Christians should not shy away from explaining what the Bible says about God’s judgment.  Otherwise what are we urging unbelievers to be saved from?

Hear an interview about the reality of hell and the cross at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, Randy Alcorn joins us to discuss God’s sovereignty.

TCW Minute: Original Sin (Week of May 16, 2016)

Why is understanding original sin so important?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

The Bible says, For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

The first man’s, Adam’s sin, is the reason why murder, corruption, racism, sex trafficking,, disease and death are everywhere.  It’s why President Obama just decreed that all public schools must allow boys who feel like girls to use the girls’ bathroom.

The world is wracked by sin.  It’s equally important though to understand that each of us are sinners and need the remedy that God introduced immediately after Adam’s fall—Jesus Christ, the only One who can redeem us.

Hear an interview about original sin at TheChristianWorldview.org.

This weekend, we’ll discuss the reality of hell … and the cross.
