TCW Minute: Discipling Your Grandchildren (Week of May 9, 2016)

While the primary role of raising children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord is for parents, grandparents should play an important part as well.
The apostle Paul said to Timothy, “I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.” (2 Timothy 1:5)
Relational conflicts, distance, busyness, or misplaced priorities often hinder this legacy of grandparents, so it’s important to nurture a close family by living and leading by God’s Word.
This weekend, we’ll discuss the ramifications of Adam’s original sin.
TCW Minute: Church Trends (Week of May 2, 2016)
Is the evangelical church standing on the promises of God or the trends of man? This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.
As our culture has become increasingly secular, evangelical church leaders have adapted their services to attract the younger generation.
Verse by verse preaching has been replaced with messages on felt needs and a traditional order of worship with Bible reading and hymn singing has been “updated” to include worship bands, dramas, mood lighting, and all manner of other methods to create a multi-sensory “worship experience”.
Church leaders need to make sure they are preaching the full counsel of Scripture and that the service is reverent and for the glory of God rather than the tastes of man.

The nations are in an uproar and the peoples are devising a vain thing as the first verse of Psalm 2 says, but the rest of the Psalm reminds us that God is in control, seated on His throne, working out His plan through His Son, and offering salvation to all.
