Professor But Not Possessor? (Oct. 20-26, 2014)

TRANSCRIPT:

Professor but not possessor?  This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

Jesus says in Matthew 7 that many will call Him “Lord” and do great works in His name, but that he will still declare to them on judgment day: “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”

How can this be?  Well, there is an eternal destination of difference between professing to be a Christian and actually possessing genuine saving faith.

The Bible says that those who repent of their sins and place their faith in Christ, and not their own good works, are the ones Jesus’ saves.  Good works are the evidence of genuine conversion, not the basis for it.

This weekend, we’ll talk with author Jerry Bridges about the pursuit of holiness.

Proclaiming Christ in the City (Oct. 13-19, 2014)

Urban problems, biblical solutions. This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

While poverty, fatherless homes, out of wedlock births, abortion, murder, and drug use exist all across America, the large urban centers of our country, populated mainly by minority groups, are particularly characterized by these problems.

50 years after civil rights, some point to “societal injustice and racism” as the cause of urban trouble, while others say that government welfare discourages work and nuclear families.

Whatever the reasons, real change comes when Christians and church proclaim the gospel of repentance and faith in Christ and show it through helping hands.

This weekend, we’ll talk about having assurance of salvation.

Is Spanking Child Abuse? (Oct. 6-12, 2014)

TRANSCRIPT:

Is spanking child abuse? This is David Wheaton, host of The Christian Worldview.

Society today views children as inherently good, or a blank slate, who need to be taught to love themselves and given only positive reinforcement.

The Bible says that we are all “brought forth in iniquity” and that “foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will remove it far from him.”

In fact, God warns that “He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently.”

Let’s not confuse a controlled spanking on the rear end for willful disobedience with child abuse, which injures both body and spirit. Spanking is only one form of discipline, but an important one for Christian parents to use wisely.

This weekend, we’ll talk about urban Christianity.

Fully Man and Fully God (Sept. 29 – Oct. 5, 2014)

TRANSCRIPT:

Why did Jesus need to be fully man and fully God? This is David Wheaton with The Christian Worldview Radio Program.

It’s known as the hypostatic union of Christ—that Jesus had both a human nature and and a divine nature. The Bible says: the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus is the Son of Man and the Son of God. He needed to be human in order to be our perfect representative and substitutionary sacrifice before God, and He needed to be divine in order to fully exhaust the wrath of God for the incalculable sin of mankind.

Hear more about Christ’s two natures by visiting TheChristianWorldview.org.

And then tune in this weekend for another topic that will sharpen your worldview.
