When it comes to the how and when of the origin of the universe, your starting point is all-important. If you start with God’s word as the bottom line for truth, that “in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them”, then man’s word, that nothing exploded into something and evolved into everything over billions of years, can’t be true.
And trying to merge the creationist and evolutionist viewpoints, as some Christians do, only erodes faith in God and His Word. Let’s remember what Jesus prayed to His Father, “Your word is truth.”
