Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. Colossians 3:23-25
America has become a country of extremes with regard to work. Some people dislike their jobs and co-workers and only go to work because they need the money. Others love their work so much that they sacrifice family and health to climb the ladder. Still others don’t work, even if they are able, because being unemployed allows them to receive taxpayer-funded monies and benefits from government.
I would guess that a small minority of people in this country actually see work the way God wants us to—as a way to serve and worship Him.
Trace Thurlby, president of Global Orphan Project and author of Not in the Family: Building Significance in Someone Else’s Business, joins us this Labor Day Weekend to discuss how to pursue our work as worship. In light of this topic, we will also discuss Rowan County, Kentucky clerk Kim Davis being arrested at her workplace and sent to jail for refusing to issue same-sex “marriage” licenses due to her Christian convictions.
