“He [God] made Him [Christ] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
There has been only one person who has ever lived a sinless life and that is Jesus Christ. His every thought, His every word, His every action, His every motive … they were all perfectly pleasing to God because He truly was and is the sinless Son of God.
The rest of us can’t fathom this perfection for we encounter sin in and around us every day. But God has revealed more than enough about His Son for us to know that Jesus‘ sinless life was necessary so that He could be the unblemished “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29) and so that those who repent and believe in Him could be credited with His righteousness.
