GUEST: Stuart Epperson Jr., author, First Words of Jesus
He [Jesus] had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. Hebrews 2:17
Jesus the Messiah was born to die. The cradle that held the baby Christ that we celebrate at Christmas leads right to the cross where the perfect man Christ offered Himself for our sins that we remember at Easter.
In the hustle and bustle and commercialism and diversions of Christmas (think Santa), we often forget this connection between cradle and cross. And yet many of the great Christmas carols remind us:
Born that man no more may die:
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Jesus was born to offer everyone second birth.
This weekend before Christmas on The Christian Worldview, Stuart Epperson Jr. joins us to discuss how the events surrounding the birth of Christ relate to His purpose to save sinners.
